Disappointment and joy for Livia Lancelot in Holland

It was a mixed weekend for Livia Lancelot of Team 114 Kawasaki as she recorded a DNF and a race victory in the third round of the FIM Women's Motocross Championship at Valkenswaard in Holland.

The opening moto on Saturday afternoon started well as Livia quickly secured third place and moved onto the rear wheel of the girl in second place until she began to experience a loss of power and gradually dropped back down the leaderboard until the bike stopped as she still held fifth place with three laps remaining. The French girl was able to put the disappointment behind her in race two on Sunday morning as she quickly moved to the front to score a five second victory. Despite dropping one place to fifth at the halfway point of the series, she remains just 22 points from the pacesetter and is one of only three girls to have won a moto.

Her successes, together with those of Meghan Rutledge, have ensured that Kawasaki hold a commanding lead in the Manufacturers' Championship.

Livia Lancelot: “It was a strange weekend, with a tough Saturday as I didn’t felt so comfortable on the bike and later had a mechanical problem during the race. It was difficult to accept this DNF as I needed a good result for the championship, and on Saturday evening I was unhappy. I worked together mentally with my parents, my mechanic Valentin and my trainer Bruno, and Sunday was another day; I had a good feeling at the warm-up, then got a good start in the race, passed Meghan and won it. It’s good to get my first win this season, but for sure it will be difficult for the championship. However there’s still three races to go and I will continue to work hard.”
