Strong Race Pace Takes Alcoba To Seventh

FIM Supersport World Championship rider Jeremy Alcoba secured a seventh place finish in his Kawasaki WorldSSP Team’s first home race at Misano, collecting a useful haul of championship points as a result.

A great fightback through the field from his starting position of 13th saw Jeremy eventually finish near the front of the second group of top-ten riders.

He was just 3.3 seconds from the race winner Stefano Manzi after all 18-laps, having passed several competitors due to a good race set-up on his Ninja ZX-6RR and a high degree of confidence in his own race pace.

Jeremy made his most rapid progress in the final part of the race, bridging the gap from tenth place to seventh in just four laps.

There will be one more WorldSSP race at Misano, on Sunday 15 June. Jeremy will start from 14th position on the Race Two grid.

Jeremy Alcoba stated: “I’m happy with Saturday’s race. We were finally able to make a good start, not gaining but not losing positions, which was good. At the beginning I was looking at how the tyres might drop but I was able to manage the race really well, still lapping fast even in the final stages. I was really happy with our speed through the race, and it was also enjoyable to be fighting with the other riders. I think the potential is there and that we ran a good race, so I’m happy. The team did a great job, and I want to thank them for all their hard work. Let’s stay focused for tomorrow because I think we can take another little step forward.”
